Imagine
sailing down the Nile on
a magical Sailing ship that
could have come straight
out of an Agatha
Christie film. Sitting
out on the deck and
enjoying amazing views
whilst cruising
leisurely down the banks
of the Nile aboard the
first ever five star
Dahabeeyah sailing ship.
Dahabeeyah translated means
Golden Boat in Egyptian.
They were originally
used by kings to travel
on the Nile, and are
beautifully crafted twin
masted sailing ships. The
five star Dahabeeyah
aims to give guests a
more than luxurious stay.
It is 36m long and has 4
en-suite cabins, a very
large Suite complete
with it's own terrace.
There is also a spacious
salon lounge with bar
and a 24m sundeck.
Guests will be able to
enjoy the most fabulous
European and Egyptian
cuisine, which will be
accompanied by quality
wines. It is a very
romantic ship in a
romantic setting. Guests
will actually be able to
reach down and touch the
Nile as they sail in a
wonderful tranquil
silence and see sights
that haven't changed for
a few thousand years -
yet with all the modern
comforts that first
class travel offers.
The cruises are between
Luxor and Aswan and will
call at all the tourist
highlights, such as Esna,
Edfu, Kom Ombo as well
as some of the more
unusual smaller villages
that the larger ships
can't access. |

| The Guest
accommodation on the
Ship comprises of four
en-suite air conditioned
cabins (max. occupancy 2
people) measuring 4.5m x
2.5m that can be set out
with either two single
beds or with a king-size
bed. Each cabin is
individually named,
tastefully decorated and
has three large windows
so guests can have a
great view of the Nile
whilst enjoying the
privacy of their own
room. The cabins boast
Egyptian cotton bedding,
flat screen TV,
telephone with ample
wardrobe and draw space.
The bathrooms are
equipped with a power
shower, toilet,
washbasin and hairdryer.
You also have your own
steward who is
responsible for helping
to make your stay with
us as enjoyable as
possible. |

 The owner’s suite (max.
occupancy 3 people) is
fully air-conditioned
and spans the full width
of the rear of the ship.
The suite is more than
double the size of a
Cabin with a beautiful
Lounge that opens onto
it’s own private terrace
which affords panoramic
views of the Nile,
perfect for entertaining
or “when you just want
to be alone”. The suite
has all of the luxury
fittings of the cabins
but in a more spacious
and sumptuous
setting. The Owner’s
Suite is ideal for
entertaining and for the corporate
charter. |

The Salon is at the
front of the ship and
makes a delightful
meeting place, as well
as providing an
alternative
location for meals.
Borrow a book or DVD
from our library, play
board games, watch major
events on satellite TV
or connect with the
outside world with our
onboard internet
connection. The salon is
also a place to meet
your fellow guests for
drinks at the bar before
dinner and perhaps sip a
digestive and discuss
the events of the day
late into the evening. |

 The Upper Deck is the
place to be for sun
worshippers
with sun beds and cool
down shower. However for
guests wanting to escape
the heat of the sun it
is partially shaded. We
will take meals at our
large banqueting table
and relax on the
comfortable deck
furniture, or sip mint
tea in our Arabic corner
furnished
with local carpets and
cushions. |

Cuisine on board is a
delight, mixing European
flavours and styles
together to create a
varied and substantial
three-course dinner menu
each evening to suit all
tastes. Lunch on the
other hand is a lighter
affair with a few more
traditional Egyptian,
Middle Eastern and
Mediterranean dishes
combined to provide
delicious sustenance
during the day. Fresh
fish from the Nile is
bought direct from the
fishermen in their
fishing boats in early
morning, not long after
dawn and then served for
lunch a few hours later.
You can’t get fresher
than that! Dinner is not
always served on the
boat. One evening, our
candlelit meal was
served in the grounds of
the rock cut temple at
Gebel Silsileh, which is
just set back a little
from the river’s edge.
Just imagine it, sitting
out in the warmth of the
quiet evening air with
only candles and the
subtle back lighting of
the temple on one side
and the river gently
flowing on the other.
Moments like this are
indelible and quite
possibly unique. |

 Captain Hassan is in
charge of the Princess
Donia cruise ship. He is
an experienced mariner
and is very well
qualified. He commands
the respect of his crew
and has the admiration
of his peers. Captain
Hassan not only speaks
his native Arabic, he
has a good command of
English and Dutch
too.There are six other
members of crew The
Manager, The Chef and
Four Stewards, all of
which are trained to the
highest standard. Every
task is carried out with
the utmost discretion,
complete courtesy and
always with a smile to
ensure your complete
satisfaction. |

 On board, the spacious
upper deck provides
different areas to
relax, whether it is to
sunbathe on the sun beds
or sit in the shade and
watch the Nile scenes (which
have not really changed
in hundreds of years)
pass by in perfect peace.
Serene tranquillity is
what you get here as you
are transported to
another world, where
stress doesn’t exist and
the natural beauty of
the earth takes over.
The cruise is taken at a
leisurely pace and there
is no schedule to meet.
This adds to the
complete and utter
stress free environment
and enhanced enjoyment
of the trip. Every day
there is a chance to
visit an ancient temple,
as the dahabeeyah makes
its way to Aswan.Each
day in the late
afternoon/early evening
Captain Hassan and his
crew moor the boat on
the banks of the river
or a small river island
and prepare for the
evening meal. Dressing
for dinner is the norm
and the evening meal is
preceeded by cocktails
or a wicked gin and
tonic on deck, mixed and
graciously served by
Adham, the Head Steward,
giving a definite touch
from a bygone era. The
last night on the
Princess Donia is Gala
night with black tie
dinner. Sipping
Champagne in evening
dress and sharing a
sumptuous meal with
fellow guests on deck
takes you back to the
heady colonial days of
Agatha Christie’s Death
On The Nile. But don’t
be fooled, you will feel
completely rejuvenated
and re-energised when
you leave the boat, and
you won’t want to leave.
This is the only way to
cruise the Nile in
style, you will not be

DAY 1
Travel to Esna and join
the Princess Donia.
Captain Hassan and his
crew will welcome you on
board and have your bags
taken to your cabins. We
will then set sail on
your voyage to Aswan.
Day 2
Whilst sleeping we
gently sail en-route to
Edfu; enjoy breakfast at
your leisure, visit Edfu
Temple by horse carriage,
one of the largest and
most intact of Egypt's
monuments. Two beautiful
granite statues of the
Falcon God Horus flank
the entrance. After your
visit to the temple,
either ride or walk
through the bazaar, this
is an extensive bazaar
where you can barter for
souvenirs, spices and
perfumes. We will then
set sail for our private
island "El Fouza" where
we will disembark for
dinner served to you on
the edge of the Nile.
DAY 3
We set off for the
relaxing journey to the
temple of Gebel el
Silsila, another of our
less frequented
destinations. You will
be amazed as we tie up
alongside the Speos of
Hormheb. If possible
dinner will be served in
the grounds of the
illuminated temple or on
the upper deck of The
Princess Donia whilst
soaking up the tranquil
atmosphere with music to
match the mood.
DAY 4
Breakfast at your
leisure as we sail on to
Kom Ombo. Listen to the
sounds of the water
buffalo as they wade in
the shallow water
besides the banks of the
Nile, the Donkeys as
they go about their day
to day business and the
various bird life of the
river. Here we visit to
the Greco Roman Temple
at Kom Ombo. The temple
building is totally
symmetrical with two
entrance's two halls and
two sanctuaries
dedicated to the Falcon
God Haroeris (Horus the
Elder) and the Crocodile
God Sobek. Lunch will be
served as we head for a
small island where we
will moor for the
evening and enjoy dinner
at this atmospheric
location.
DAY 5
Enjoy the privilege and
luxury of days gone by
as we sail to Aswan, the
gateway to Nubia and the
Sudan. We should arrive
around 10am, giving you
plenty of time to visit
some of the highlights
such as the Temple of
Philea and the Souk, and
unfinished Obelisk You
will have lots of time
to prepare for our
EGYPTIAN EVENING OF FUN,
with Egyptian cuisine,
Belly Dancers and Arabic
Music. Dress in your
bespoke Gallabeyah or
belly dancing outfit,
our gift to you.
Day 6
After breakfast, we bid
farewell to Captain
Hassan and the crew.
Your luggage will be
collected and will be
ready for you to travel
to your next destination.

Temple during the
morning hours from 07:00
am till 14:00 h if you
have a later flight ASW/CAI. |
