Day 2: Abu Simbel Trip from Aswan
In the early morning, you will be accompanied by your tour guide to start another day of Luxor day tours program and your driver to visit Abu Simbel temple which located in Abu Simbel village is a great temple from two massive rock temples. They are situated on the western bank of Lake Nasser about 230 KM south west Aswan.
The UNESCO has transferred the temple from Abu Simbel to Philae Island. During the reign of Pharaoh Ramesses II 13 Century B.C he has ordered carve this temple on the mountain side as a lasting monument to himself and his queen Nefertari. there is an astronomical phenomenon that happens in this holy temple where the sculptures are lit two days every year on 22 February and 21 October.
As a matter of fact, those lit statues belong to namely three phases, the first one was placed on my right-hand side with a body of a man and a head of a hawk representing the God of Sun. while the second one was the statue of king Ramses II and after him comes the third statue of Amun. Ideally, only those three statues that witness this phenomenon while the fourth statue which is placed right after them doesn’t witness any light alignment that’s because this fourth statue belongs to ‘’Ptah’’ who was the symbol of the after-death world back then representing the dark side of the world in the ancient Egyptian doctrine, as such, lighting this statue would have been inconsistent with his job.
Afterwards, you will have your lunch at local restaurant and then you will be transferred back to your hotel. We hope that you will enjoy our Luxor day tours program and to have good memories of this trip.
